Computing Curriculum Statement
"We are currently preparing students for jobs that don't yet exist, using technologies that haven't been invented, in order to solve problems we don't know are problems yet." Richard Riley.
At Herrick Primary School, we see the teaching of Computing as an integral part of the school curriculum. Our school uses ‘Teach Computing’ to support the learning of each strand of the Computing curriculum. We focus on developing key themes, such as: digital literacy (which includes on-line safety), computer science (for example – coding and programming) and information technology. The world is connected through the internet and the school works towards supporting the school community in both making use of the benefits of technology but also the dangers it presents. An important aspect we teach is that you can learn about computing without using a digital device (unplugged). We want our children to be computer literate and equipped for life in the 21st century.
